CSUSA AI Capability Training
Five connected workstreams that built AI capability from the C-suite to the classroom, sustained by internal trainers across 10,000+ employees.
The Opportunity
CSUSA is one of the largest charter school operators in the country, serving more than 100,000 students across a network of more than 10,000 employees. The workforce spans classroom educators, school-level administrators, and the full functional enterprise: HR, finance, technology, and executive leadership. That breadth created a design problem with no single-track solution. Different populations required different content, different delivery, and different definitions of what AI capability would look like in their role.
CSUSA's leadership recognized early that AI represented a real operational shift. The goal was to build real capability across the entire organization at the same time, from the C-suite down to frontline educators. The challenge was execution: deploying capability simultaneously across a highly distributed, multi-segment workforce with no existing AI baseline, in a way the organization could sustain without permanent outside support. That requirement extended to employees who had not been hired yet. In a network this size, onboarding is a permanent motion, and any capability program that ignored it would begin eroding the day it ended.
Key Challenges
Educators, school administrators, HR, finance, technology, and executives each needed different content and delivery.
A network starting from zero, with no definition of what AI capability means for a teacher versus a finance analyst.
Schools have watched programs launch at an August kickoff and fade by fall break once outside trainers move on.
Summer new-hire waves and mid-year backfills would dilute any capability gains unless onboarding itself taught AI literacy.
The Process
Mapped every workforce segment, classroom to C-suite, and defined what AI capability means in each role.
Built executive, leadership, and frontline curricula around CSUSA's own tools and workflows. Each group received customized use-case libraries and hands-on workshops.
Delivered training network-wide and certified internal champions to carry the motion without outside help. Ajaia accelerated the first phase; the organization increasingly carried the motion itself.
Built a new hire AI literacy pathway so every incoming employee starts at the network baseline. Training is delivered as part of enrollment into the organization, so capability does not degrade as the network hires and grows.
Our Solution
A five-workstream program that built AI capability at every level of the network at the same time. Executive training covered AI strategy and governance for the C-suite. Leadership training delivered role-specific enablement and use-case libraries for HR, finance, SLT, and ELT. Frontline workforce enablement gave the organization a shared operating baseline. Certified internal champions carry the training forward, and a new hire AI literacy pathway keeps capability intact as CSUSA grows.
Key Capabilities
Impact
Within six months, internal AI tool usage increased 500% and 95% of ongoing enablement was being delivered by CSUSA's own certified trainers. AI is now governed organizational behavior, with role-specific use cases embedded across every level of the workforce. The training motion runs internally, and the new hire pathway ensures every incoming employee enters at the same baseline. All content was built around CSUSA's own tools, workflows, and operating context, and Ajaia continues to work with CSUSA as AI tools and practices evolve.
